I am deeply interested in the relationship between spontaneous activity and creative thought. As much as possible, my working method is improvisational. To support this technique, my usual approach is to be as direct as possible when drawing, making prints or painting. My intent is to work as intuitively as possible and let the materials and mood drive the process.
The pieces displayed on this site are varied. This may not be the usual expectation when viewing an artist’s portfolio, but it does reflect the fact that I find enjoyment in freely exploring different ideas and ways of working. In some instances, my experience as a graphic designer may also be observable.
I live in the Upstate New York area and taught college art and design from 2002 until the end of 2024. My teaching experience includes working 13 years for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh online division and teaching as an adjunct at the following Rochester, area campuses: RIT, St. John Fisher University, Monroe Community College and Genesee Community College. Prior to teaching I worked in the graphic design and marketing fields for almost twenty years.
