I am deeply interested in the relationship between spontaneous activity and creative thought. As much as possible, my working method is improvisational. To support this technique, my usual approach is to be as direct as possible when drawing, making prints or painting. My intent is to let the materials drive the process and work as intuitively as possible.
The pieces displayed on this site are varied. This may not be the usual expectation when viewing an artist’s portfolio, but it does reflect the fact that I find enjoyment in freely exploring different ideas and ways of working. In some instances, my experience as a graphic designer may also be observable.
I live in the Upstate New York area and have been teaching college art and design since 2002 in the Rochester, NY area. My teaching experience also includes working 10 years full-time for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I am presently an adjunct faculty member in the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. and am also teaching Art History and Design at Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY. Prior to teaching I worked in the graphic design and marketing fields for almost twenty years.
